Pop Culture:
It is obvious that every country has
different culture and tradition. Living in the United States has changed a lot
of things in my life such as my way of thinking, my life style, and behavior.
When I used to live in Algeria, I couldn't decide my major; Of course, I was
confused because the system of the society; However, Since I started school in
the United States , I have learned and know how to make decision in what I want
to be in the future. Also, I have noticed that my way of thinking started to
change, and I was impressed how possible changing place cloud affect my mind like that; For example, I became mature
and responsible because the life in the United States has taught me that life
wasn’t easy. If I don’t work hard, I will not get what I want; In addition, the
pop culture has played a huge role in changing me. As we say in Algeria '' When you live with
new people minimum 40 days, you become like them.''; However, I have become
aware of many new things since I started taking Humanities class. It allowed me
to explore a variety of culture and knew more about American culture;
Especially, I learned how to make difference between high culture and pop
culture.
Culture Identity:
My two are about the splendor , my hometown,
in Algeria. Algeria is located in North Africa between Marco and Tunisia, and
it is the biggest African and Arabic country. In the poster I have showed a few
traditional things such as traditional dress, food, and places. Some of the
traditions are high culture because the Kabyle dress is inherit tradition; Every girl who is going throw a wedding have to wear it,
so she can show to people that she still believing in the tradition. The famous
dish in Algeria is Couscous; Every Friday people make it, so it has become a
part of high culture. Moreover, I put some pictures of a beautiful places that
are located by the Sahara and Mediterranean Sea.
Reading:
The reading ‘’ Do I look Like Public
Enemy Number One ’’ was one of the reading that talked about discrimination. It
made me think that making difference between people races and ethnicity would
never stop. We can’t never blame people because they look different; In
addition, it is true that people judge the other by the stereotype of where
she/he comes from; For example. In the beginning of the reading the author
mentioned that ‘’ you’re not a terrorist, are you?’’. I am against the idea to
judge someone before I know his/her value. On the other hand, feeling stranger
in a place where people live, make them act differently. I noticed that a lot
of people hide their identity because they don’t want to be showing as
stranger; It is kind of shame to feel weird. My opinion is that we have to be
different, so we can enjoy the splendor of beauty.
Music:
The music is the inspiration of some
people and so do I. I love listening to the music especially when I feel bored.
My type of music is slow and soft; I like to enjoy listening to a good rhythm
with a particular meaning. Since I was young, I have loved old music. I think
it is better than the modern music. I prefer to listen to French music such as listening
to Dalida, Julio, and Charles Aznavour. On the other hand, I like some modern
musician like Enrique Iglesias because he sings about love.
Movie
Up
funny, love, and animation all in one
movie.
two young kids who grew up together ,
they lived a splendid live plenty of love. The lady had a dream since she was
young. When she died, the man wanted to make her happy up there. You will see a
wonderful adventure with a lot of action, a lot of funny scene.
In '' Ups'' was a movie that was
produce by Jona Rivera, directed by Peter Doctor and Bob Peterson, the studio
in Walt Disney Pictures Pixar Animation, and the cinematography by Patrick Lin
Jean-claudie. It was made on 29 May 2009, and it won two Oscars. It was an
animation movie voiced by Edward Asner and the young boy voiced by Wilderness
Explorer. However, the movie described how we can reach our dream and not give
up.
The animation movie was about a
beautiful story that began with two young kids who grew up together and went
throw a marriage. The couple lived an amazing life plenty of love and respect,
and they always were trying to economies some money to reach the childhood
dream which was going to paradise city in South America. When the couple became
old, the woman died. The old man overcame the death of his wife, and he decided
to continue what they left behind them '' the dream''. He flew with his house
to the paradise place, but while his trip a lot of things happened.
The character that I liked mostly was
the young boy, he was a fat boy who followed the old man to take a last medal
to be a senior in his club. The funniest moment when the old man decided to fly
with his house. He was sitting in his chair taking nap while the young boy
knock in his door and begged him to let him came in. He was checking everything
around the house, and then he touched something that took them to somewhere
unknown. The young boy was putting his nose in everything with funny way.
I recommend this animation movie to
the kids because it shows a part of dream that grows up with two kids and even
after they become old, they haven't given up. Its great animation movie that
has a remarkable significance at the end.
Food:
The most surprising about the two
reading that I read ‘’ Costume-Made and The Only Way to Have a Cow’’ that
included business, health, and pollution. The first reading ‘’ Costume-made’’ I
found that even the food became business, a way to get more money. The surprising
thing that the international food are different from country to another. The
second reading, I think it would better if we stop eating red meat because it
has side effect on the pollution; especially, after I read that it is not a healthier
meat, and it contains modifying food inside.
Bonus Section:
‘’Revenge’’ was my favorite TV show; when
I was watching it, I couldn't stop. I had watched full episode in short period
because it kept my mind. It was a story about a little girl who grew up by
herself. A rich family killed her father, so she wanted to take his revenge. The
show TV contained some virtual scene or unreal. It was good TV show but they exaggerated
little bit in some scene.
Prezi
Going out to ask people about Chicago’s
architecture was really fun. I learned some new thing about the Pavilion. My
part was to talk about the history of the Pavilion, I found interesting information about it.
We did the project in PowerPoint I couldn't copy it.
